Each Sounds Like Art snare begins life as raw eight-quarter lumber that is hand selected to ensure proper moisture content, identify any inconsistencies in the wood, and verify the grain pattern is of desirable quality. A unique combination of cutting edge technology and traditional woodworking techniques are used to turn the select boards into unique stave-style shells.

Looking for the ultimate custom snare drum? Now you can work with a member of our staff to design your own Sounds Like Art snare. Our wood experts will help pick a wood that meets your sonic requirements while our artists turn your ideas into 3D designs carved into the shell. You also have the option of custom hardware, working with our artists to create a lug that compliments your shell design while maintaining functionality. Series I
The 1st Edition of the Sounds Like Art™ series featured a 14"x6" shell with a unique scrolling pattern that integrates lug and strainer placement, and two highly detailed Phattie logos that also serve as air vents. The lugs are machined from billet aluminum in a classic art-deco style and complimented by the R2 strainer. The 1st Edition was produced in Maple, Mahogany, Walnut, Bubinga, and Rosewood with solid ebony splines between the staves. Series I drums are no longer in production and are limited to stock on hand, call for a current stock and pricing.

Series II
"The Dragon Snare" as it has come to be known is the second snare in the Sounds Like Art™ series. Featuring a 14"x7" shell this drum provides more body and depth then the Series I drums. Solid Brass tube lugs with minimal shell contact and the R2 strainer come as standard equipment. Series II drums are available in Hard Maple, Mahogany, Birch, Oak, Ash, Jarrah, Walnut, Cherry, Purple Heart, Padauk, Bubinga, Rosewood, and Ebony.
